While our middle school students were having fun during their “Have a Heart” spring dance on Friday February 23rd 2018 , some of their fathers and “father-figures” along with the school administration met to re-launch the PTSA sponsored WATCH D.O.G.S. program in our school.
The program has been helpful in bringing in more adult male role models into the school. The spring re-launch serves as a mid-year reflection huddle and a point to invite new fathers to join the program.
If you are or have a father-figure in your child’s life and have not had a chance to participate, now is the time to join some spend a meaningful morning/afternoon or day in your child’s school day.
It will transform the home conversation from – “How was your day?” Child answer: “Fine” – to something like this – “How is your robotics project in Ms. Miller’s class?” Child answer: “Yea, you remember Charles, the boy who sits next to me, came up with this brilliant idea to help move our project forward. Mr. James also came in today to help our class as a watchdog. He is Angela’s uncle, the girl in I was sitting at lunch with when dad visited.”
